There are many interesting places in Virginia but I personally think the battlefields are the most interesting. One battlefield you should visit is the Battle of Williamsburg. The Battle of Williamsburg took place on May 5, 1862 in Yorktown, James City County, and Williamsburg, Virginia. It was the first pitched battle of the Peninsula Campaign of the American Civil War. Another battlefield you should visit is the First Battle of Bull Run. This battle was fought on July 21, 1861 in Prince William County, Virginia near the city of Manassas. This was one of the first major battles in the American Civil War. It ended up being a Confederate victory after an unorganized retreat by the Union. The last battle field you should visit is the Battle of Yorktown. This was the last major battle of the American Revolution that won America its independence. In the Fall of 1781, George Washington with his troops and allied French troops beat General Cornwallis's troops. Cornwallis surrendered on October 19 ending the war.
